Magma for Big Takeover, and at Zulu and the Venue

For some reason, people in Vancouver don't seem to be excited about Magma. They have a kind of low profile over here, but I have no idea why, they're a seriously creative, long-lived band who gets a lot of respect worldwide - odd that we're missing the bus a bit. I interviewed Christian Vander of Magma here. I think that Thursday's show at the Venue is a bit of a must-attend, and there's an in-store Wednesday at Zulu...!

Haven't heard much of Magma, but loved Eskaton after I bought their "Fiction" LP in the early 80s.

So Robin Bougie is over at Videomatica/ Zulu, where Magma are having an in-store that no one is attending, apparently. He's afraid he's going to be "embarrassed" by his city, he writes on Facebook. That's exactly how I feel, but I've caught a cold and I'm not feelin' fit to go out - and I especially don't want to saddle Magma with my sickness. I hope some people out there go to this in-store, this is a seriously cool band that I think Vancouver is getting ready to completely neglect...

This weird type of music as rock progressive always been misunderstood, mostly from the grand public, I flew to Vancouver from Terrace and miss time from work to see Magma perform in Vancouver, Which was memorable to me, quite the Concert to witness...I had huge expectations and delivered such great passionate moments, with my well trained ears coming from Montreal, taking vacation time for the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in their best years for 10 + years, Concert seen to state a few are Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, mike Stern, Billy Cobham, John Mclaughlin, Allen Holdsworth, Al Di Meola etc.... Very please to see Meister Vander and his acolytes live in this small Venue....One of the Best Concert even seen
