
For me the high point, thus far, of the ongoing "Surreelists" series at the Vancity Theatre is the double bill this Wednesday and Thursday of Bunuel's
Viridiana and
The Exterminating Angel. There's an informative essay on the latter film
here; I find its refined cruelty and dark humour quite delightful. Cineastes who feel like they've "done" Jodorowsky and Lynch enough to skip those screenings, but who haven't seen these two films, should definitely mark their calendars. (Tho' if you're still craving Lynch,
Mulholland Drive and
Lost Highway play Monday...).
