And in Japan...

I don't suppose it would do us much good to start stockpiling water and such, but... in Japan, TEPCO are now trying to absorb the radioactive liquid leaking out into the ocean with sawdust and newspaper and something similar to the absorbant material in diapers. Unfortunately, it's not working. Radiation levels are rising along the US coast and presumably here, too.

Mike Watt, meanwhile - legendary punk bassist for the Minutemen and fIREHOSE, continuing bass-man for the Stooges, and solo recording artist in his own right, coming to town April 26th - has just sent out a mass email referencing the Last Poets' "When the Revolution Comes," with that title in his subject line and the following as the message, referencing how we

...will party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit

when the revolution comes

...so has the revolution come at all close to us yet? Did I miss something? Guess I better keep reading the news...

How did a song go from the early 80's go..."open your eyes see the lies right in front of you..." I actually think people will be twittering when the revolution comes, and given the top sites involve celebs, it won't be pretty. The last words heard from a dying society will be some Kardashian's dating woes.

Ah, yes, the Lords of the New Church. Bev Davies keeps mentioning "Russian Roulette" to me - it's one of those songs that sticks.

Japan related: as Tepco start pumping mildly radioactive water directly into the ocean, to allegedly make room for the really BAD stuff, it turns out that radioactive iodine several million times a safe limit is spewing into the ocean:
