I did not take a lot of photos -- in some cases I took no good ones of a given artist, and in other cases, I was sitting in back, giving an injured ankle a break. Then eventually my battery ran out. I shot video of Beau, but got no photos. Still, I did get a few pics I liked, in reverse order:
But I haven't much to say. There were some surprises (a lot of pro-Canadian sentiment, and a few anachronistic songs, like a Band-esque arrangement of "Atlantic City" and a touching cover of "Bobcaygeon." I didn't much care for the arrangement of "This Wheel's on Fire" but I loved the inclusion of "Hazel" off Planet Waves, a highly underrated Dylan/ Band collaboration that I was spinning just earlier today, tackled with Gord Kushner, dressed like he was trying to evoke Noah Walker. Some stuff was pretty obvious (of COURSE Paul Pigat was Ronnie Hawkins), but still great. A lot of the broadest emotional gestures worked the best, especially those made by Beau Wheeler.
Check back tomorrow and I'll post vid, with Beau's permission. And yes, Bruce, I got some of Colleen's set. .
One mystery yet unsolved: where was Rich Hope. Hope he's okay! Phenomenal night, more fun up front than in back. Those old boomers back there were singing along sometimes! And clapping. Up front was better!
