Interesting times...
Interesting times here... school I work at is on strike. Might still make time for Slow West tonight at the Vancity, China Syndrome at the Railway, and some David Lam Park jazzfest action tomorrow... not much space for blogging though!
Slow West is definitely worth the time - it's similar in ways to Jarmusch's Dead Man, while being less self-consciously quirky. Very enjoyable, especially in an air-conditioned theatre. Also discovered - had somehow missed it - that A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence is the new movie from Roy Andersson, who did Songs from the Second Floor, which I loved (brilliant and funny Swedish surrealism). Seems like a must-see: http://www.viff.org/theatre/films/fc8475-a-pigeon-sat-on-a-branch-reflecting-on-existence
But with the heat, the strike, and other writing projects, no blogging for now. Stay cool, folks.
