One of the great films of the 1970's, probably my favourite Robert Altman (it vies with The Long Goodbye - incidentally, the two Altman's most praised by Robin Wood in Hollywood From Vietnam to Reagan), and certainly the most historically important film thus far made in Vancouver, McCabe and Mrs. Miller starts a limited run Friday at the Vancity Theatre. I have nothing new to say about the film, except that if somehow you've missed it thus far - and care about cinema - you should be there. Enjoyable characters, a politically interesting text, fine use of early Leonard Cohen songs... it's a must-see.
