I've never heard the music of
Kuniko Kato before, but by damn Thursday's
Vancouver New Music event sounds promising. Virtuosic Japanese percussionist who has worked - if I gather correctly - with the likes of Steve Reich and Toru Takemitsu, performing on "specially constructed steel drums?" No more needs to be said: I'm interested.
