If anyone's curious, I found
Guillermo del Toro's new film,
Pan's Labyrinth, delightful and moving - it's large-scale commercial filmmaking that Jean Cocteau would approve of, if you can dig it (and a dark cousin to Miyazaki Hayao's
Spirited Away). It's marvellous to see del Toro hitting his stride (I confess that I quite enjoyed
Hellboy, as well, and am looking forward to
its sequel). I have nothing substantial to add to
the buzz the film has already received; a very pleasant surprise that it's in Spanish with subtitles! See it theatrically.
