I might even vaguely recall the episode you describe, though somehow all the stage-diving injuries I have seen over the years tend to end up in the same file folder in my head, irrespective of the concert, so I can't say with certainty...

But thanks for your comment! Hope your hip doesn't still give you grief...Allan MacInnishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05394301776870727673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8762075.post-21217182914558084212013-07-01T21:09:29.361-07:002013-07-01T21:09:29.361-07:00I was there, about 17 years old, jello broke my hi...I was there, about 17 years old, jello broke my hip.

Not sure if it was the 20th or 21st, ... I think the 21st as I remember Jim Cummings (ibraineater) at the end of the night trying to run me down in his pickup truck, I think this was because I had earilier been trying to unsucessfully chat up the 14 year old in his pasenger seat, and I remeber running out of his way witch I don't think I could have done with a cracked hip.
Watever day it was 'twas my third or fourth stage dive of the set and apparently jello had had enuff. Using his mike cord and perhaps a boot he managed to propel me into a half stumble half leap tha became an extended forward somersalt crash dive layout with such an extended airtime the concrete dance floor below had ample time to clear of bodies. Bodies that promply closed in ontop of me.
The next thing I remeber is an angel of mercy crying out something like " hey guys! I think there's some one down there" and I managed to crawl to the side lines.

... I actually knew his work back then - I had a couple of his early albums, had heard him on Soundproof, so I was attentive to seeing him play (remember "You Now Alleyway Quick?" Great title, eh?). The thing is, contrary to what you might expect (and based on my seeing him live a mere two times), he's SO much more dynamic onstage these days! I remember him basically standing at the mike with his guitar at the DK's gig; he looked cool but he wasn't much to watch. I was kinda shocked catching him as frontman for a full band at the Ron Reyes Birthday Bash a couple years ago - he was positively Iggylike! He seems like he's aging in reverse...Allan MacInnishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05394301776870727673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8762075.post-2176116762142725682012-10-09T10:15:08.839-07:002012-10-09T10:15:08.839-07:00Alas, I am too young to have seen I, Braineater in...Alas, I am too young to have seen I, Braineater in his youth, but I must say my favorite variation of the act was Braineater with electric guita and a drummer. Super simple, minimalistic.
I <3 Jim Cummins.Belle Indifferencehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07256357366615584484noreply@blogger.com
